About me
A enthusiastic guy with (too) many hobbies
In my daily life, I’m a 31-year-old who hails from Apeldoorn and Twello. I pursued Linguistics in Nijmegen and later delved into Data Science in Tilburg. It was through the student choir Alphons Diepenbrock that I crossed paths with my girlfriend, and now we share a home in Ede, accompanied by our two young cats, Bilbo and Gilly.
So, my hobbies
My list of hobbies is longer than the hours in a day, but here are a few highlights, excluding board games (nando599 on BoardGameGeek) and photography (which has a dedicated page of its own).
Sports
Cycling is a real passion of mine, and when it comes to a close second, trail running steals the show if the path is long enough and smells like wet forests. The great cycling routes on the Veluwe and the gentle ‘mountains’ around Ede are my top picks. As for running, there’s nothing like the tranquility of a track winding through the woods and heather.
music
As a hobbyist accordionist, pianist, and every now and then, a choir singer, I take pleasure in learning new classical music pieces. Apart from playing music, I’ve built up a lovely collection of CDs and vinyl, indulging in the important hobby of simply listening to music. My eclectic taste spans from early classical compositions to 2020s pop, and from heavy metal to jazz.
Hiking and camping
Over the past few years, we discovered that hiking aligns perfectly with our love for nature and camping. While the Veluwe offers a splendid backdrop for our hikes, we’ve also explored new trails during our holidays, with our most recent adventure taking us to (Northern) Ireland.
During this trip, we delved into our first wild camping experience, and it was an absolute delight!
